Client Retention & Loyalty Strategies

Client Retention & Loyalty Strategies

Hey guys,

It's usually much easier and more cost-effective to get repeat business or referrals from existing happy clients than to constantly find new ones. This note focuses on strategies to keep our clients engaged, satisfied, and loyal long after their initial matter is concluded.

Purpose:

How to Use This Note:

  1. Brainstorm Ideas: Think about how we can stay connected with clients and add value after their main case is closed.
  2. Evaluate Options: Discuss which retention strategies are feasible and align with our Brand.
  3. Design Programs: Outline specific initiatives we want to implement.
  4. Document Strategy: Finalize our client retention approach here.

Developing Our Client Retention & Loyalty Approach

Let's consider these strategies:

Retention Strategy Key Questions / Ideas to Explore
Ongoing Communication Should we have a periodic newsletter (email or physical) for past clients with firm news or useful legal info? How often? What kind of content?
Check-in / Follow-up Should we schedule periodic check-ins (e.g., annual review for estate plans)? How do we identify opportunities for further assistance based on their previous matter?
Adding Value Can we offer workshops, webinars, or guides on related topics relevant to past clients?
Appreciation How do we show appreciation for long-term clients or those who refer business? (e.g., Holiday cards, small gestures).
Feedback Mechanisms How do we systematically gather feedback after a case concludes to identify areas for improvement and gauge satisfaction? (e.g., Simple satisfaction survey).
Review & Referral Encouragement How can we ethically and professionally encourage satisfied clients to leave online reviews or refer others? Do we provide them with easy ways to do so?
