Framework: People & Culture (Future Focus)
Framework: People & Culture (Future Focus)
Hey guys,
While not our immediate priority for deep design, this note establishes the framework for how we will approach key 'people' processes like hiring, onboarding, training, and performance reviews in the future. Having a basic framework helps ensure we build these processes consistently later on.
Purpose:
- To outline the intended approach and principles for key HR functions.
- To ensure future people processes align with our Vision and Culture.
- To provide a starting point when we are ready to formally design these systems.
How to Use This Note:
- Discuss Principles: Brainstorm the core principles we want to guide our future hiring, training, etc.
- Outline Key Areas: Briefly list the main components we'll eventually need procedures for.
- Capture Initial Thoughts: Document high-level ideas and principles here for future reference. This is less about detailed design now and more about setting direction.
Our Intended People & Culture Framework
Let's outline our guiding principles and key areas:
| HR Area | Guiding Principles / Initial Thoughts for Future Design |
|---|---|
| Recruitment/Hiring | Focus on finding people who align with our Values and Culture, as well as having the right aptitude/skills. Utilize structured interviews & potentially assessments. Emphasis on finding team fits. |
| Onboarding | Create a welcoming and structured onboarding process that quickly integrates new hires into the team, culture, and our standard ways of working (using this Blueprint!). Assign a buddy/mentor? |
| Training/Development | Commitment to ongoing learning (legal CPD, skills training). Identify training needs based on roles and firm goals. Encourage knowledge sharing within the team. Utilize this Blueprint as a core training resource. |
| Performance Reviews | Regular, constructive feedback focused on development, alignment with goals (00.5 - Our Success Metrics), and role expectations (00.2 - Our Team (Roles and Strengths)). Fair and transparent process. |
| Compensation/Benefits | Aim for fair, competitive compensation aligned with roles and market. Review periodically. |
| Culture Building | Proactively foster the desired culture (collaborative, supportive, client-focused, etc.) through team interactions, communication, and leadership actions. Acknowledge and celebrate successes. |
